Mission

FLATIRON FLYERS PROJECT ROOTS
The Flatiron Flyers Project was originated when founders, Missy Thompson and Cari Higgins were volunteering at the 2007 US Junior National Track Championships. With only 5 riders competing in the Junior Women’s National Track Championship Points Race, we were spurred into action. When exploring team options available for Junior Women in the Colorado area, we discovered there were limited affordable team options for both junior men and women. We want to share our passion for the sport by creating a supportive environment where juniors can develop into competitive cyclists and pursue cycling beyond the junior ranks.
FLATIRON FLYERS PROJECT MISSION

The Flatiron Flyers Project is dedicated to promoting competitive junior cycling through mentorship.
  1. As individuals, we work to develop self-confidence, self-discipline, and self-motivation.
  2. As at team, we are dedicated to providing valuable lessons and friendships that will be applicable through our lives.
  3. Overall, be believe that cycling will reward our junior cyclists with a fun environment supportive of personal growth.

FLATIRON FLYERS PROJECT GOALS

The Flatiron Flyers Project has realistic short and long term goals.
  1. FFP fills an obvious gap in the local Front Range cycling communities; junior cyclists of all abilities should not have to be on a team from Golden, Denver or Fort Collins. FFP will be a new and significant presence in competitive cycling in Colorado. Financial constraints of local parents should not be a barrier for kids to participate in cycling or on a team.
  2. FFP will provide equipment for juniors that are unable to provide their own.
  3. FFP will provide mentorship and coaching to those juniors looking to learn more and become more competitive at cycling.
  4. FFP will participate in local road and track cycling events, such as the Tom Danielson Race Series, as well as the Junior National Championships.
  5. FFP will produce a future cycling star. The talent is in the Boulder Valley and surrounding areas and we will find it!
  6. FFP will have fun and teach valuable lessons to our juniors!
